I have a 1996 pontiac sunfire and wanted to deck out the motor and was wondering if i should use the one i have in the car or go find an ecotec to upgrade i was wondering what was the better motor and why?
if you swap i would say get the ld9 there are so many quick upgrades for that. like secret cam, oil pump swap, intake mani off 2.3 and it just goes on and on. plus they make a lot of parts for it!
see idk if i want to go 2.4 everyone i know is telling me to keep 2.2 i have i was just curious if 2.2 ecotec is better and what the differences are?
what the differences are? HA there nothing alike haha...how about a 2.3 quad4
....but you know what you need to do before we suggest anything else?? fill out your profile properly so we know what were dealing with..that would help
i filled out my car info and i want to deck out my motor but im not shore what would be the best way to start i have a friend who dad can port and polish my head and other machining abilitys!
well if you wanna stick with LN2 engine than to get biggest performance you will need boost. since your working with low HP and Torque right now bolt ons will add power but not much. if you do port and polish get bigger and better internals as well to get the most out of it, and also a cam. but thats getting really pricey and you cant beat price/perf. on a turbo or supercharger or heck even nitrous is a big adder for a small price.
also look into getting rocker arms i hear those add some power as well

i were to do the ld9 swap what cavaleir or sunfire should i have to get the motor out of in the junkyard?? or is their a better place to pick one up?
junkyard or crate engine. you can also craigslist a sunfire gt or a grand am SE and look for one with something wrong with it like body damage or broken tranny.
