What the heck wire do I connect a tach to?

My apologies for the idiot-level question...

I have a '93 Cavi and got a tach to go in it. I've read Haynes, Chilton and the tach instructions, and I cannot figure out how to wire it in. Specifically, I can't figure out which wire to connect to to provide the signal to the tach, but I'm also a little worried about connecting power or lighting wires. Ground wire, I got that covered.

Keep in mind, this is a dirt track car, so most of the accessories have been removed (the stock gauge panel is still there, and the stock fuse box is still under the steering wheel). But it would be great if someone could give me idiot-level instructions on which wires to connect the tach wires to.

An extention: Doesn't the MSD DIS-2 have a tach-ouput terminal on it, like all the 6- & 7-series boxes they make do? I ask because I'm in the same boat, plus I don't have one & would like to save as much money as I can (Even if it's to install a tach) until I do.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
