3X00 V6 engine swap with automatic trans

What is need to do a 3X00 engine swap in a 1997 cavalier with 2.4 dohc

Is the 4T40E Automatic Trans the same as a 4T45E Automatic Trans

Also what kind of wiring modifications do i have to do to run the 4T45E trans and 3X00 motor combination

Any information if a help thanks guys

All I can tell you is the 4T45E is a strengthened version of the 4T40E (An "factory-improved" version, if you will), with stronger planetary gearsets & other "Hard-parts" that were improved over the original design.


Go beyond the "bolt-on".

you will need the tranny out of a 2200 LN2 get the Getrag 00-02 one. will last a bit longer.

If the books refer to the computer as a PCM or VCM, and there's trouble codes for transmission operation, then yes.

if you mean is the engine computer and tranny computer physically 2 different pieces... then no i think its all one piece that controls both the engine and tranny from one place

The LA1 (3400) has a single computer for most years which controls both the trans and engine.
