Basically to build a cavalier to be a competitive car would cost upwards of $12,000 minus tuning, extra work for more boost, and cost of car. With those it could be well over $20,000.

I have decided after doing this research to sell my cavalier, and buy and 09 Cobalt SS. With less than $3000 for bigger intercooler/downpipe/charge piping from hahn and custom tune to be around 370/370 hp/tq. Lower the car and obtain a driver mod, and you have a decent machine.

And when you get bored with the stock power, you'll spend the same amount of money (or more) on the Cobalt SS instead. The bottom line is, it doesn't matter what car you have... modding it is expensive and doesn't do squat for the car's value. They're all money pits in the end.

Enjoy your Cobalt!

Im confused about his post... Every post by the OP is about doing things cheaply... and just an hour ago he decided to go with the Pro kit for suspension and is buying nitto tires... Maybe you should return those before you sell your car!! LOL

Very true its how you spend it and where as well as why. Do you like the platform and what you want to do. Plus some of the stuff you have on there isn't from the cheapest places. If you spent the time to learn and do research you could put a turbo set up together that would probably be half of the cost of the hahn one and maybe make more boost. The best way to cut cost is do it yourself or as much your self as possible. Plus I buy quality stuff from guys who are parting out.

Still Lenko is right modding is a hobby which means it is a money pit unless you have really good skills and can pickup sponsorship in some way. I ski and I know I am spending money but its fun.

The proper way of using the word seen. It is not I seen it that would be I saw it. He has seen the car is the right way to use the word. English class is Cool. By the way thats my sig

Well, you could save a bunch of money on your car insurance by switching to Geico.....But really, your going to be spending a @!#$load on ur insurance for your cobalt..I'd much rather take my $125 dollar full coverage insurance over a $300+ on a a cobalt ss...But its your money, in the long run you will prob save if you build your car, but its your money blow it how you want..Only you will be satisfied with what you want...

oops. Thats a mistake, I had them all in one list, then I seperated it to make it easier to read, and forgot to move that one. My bad.

And the guy who said I did things cheaply, thats only cause I was looking for a few things I could do that didnt cost much, cause I didnt have a job at the time, and still wanted to mod my car, I call that dedication, or stupidity. lol.

I live in a small town with an 11% unemployment rate, and most places here pay under $7/hour. So I was leaning towards the cheap side.

I chose the prokit cause its less extreme of a drop that the sportlines, and easier to ride on a DD. Geez get over yourself noob.

Make your own turbo kit. You'll either save money for the same kind of setup or spend the same and get a better setup.

I'd just like to add I have a "build sheet" with the parts I need, the prices, and the dealer. I update it about once every couple months.
I will say it's kinda dumb to make a wish list but I guarantee after studying up I am well informed on the product BEFORE I buy. It is more of a carefully laid out plan.

I wish more and more that I had built my own setup every day.
