vibrant exhaust question...yes i searched

Just a question...what should i do with my vibrant exhaust when it comes to connection the 2 pipes together? should i use clamps or just have it welded...i live in NE Ohio and clamps tend to rot off quickly and i really dont want a clamp rotting into the pipe and ruining it like my pacesetter exhaust did....i know that the vibrant is stainless but will it rot from all the road salt and such? also with the clamps do they make stainless steel ones that wont rust away or could i paint them with high temp paint?

Try these Dynomax Band Clamps. They are stainless steel and will last as long as your stainless pipes. They also won't crush the pipes, making disassembly possible. They come in other sizes and for but joint applications also.

yes, those are very nice, but make sure the exhaust has enough support. Those clamps cannot support as much weight as conventional u-bolt clamps where there is pipe inside pipe.

the best would be to get flanges welded. no problems to worry about.

Working on obtainting an M-Class license... ?? Hint: 2 wheels.

V-Clamps would be the best, but hey can cost about $45+ each, plus the welding. If it's 2.25" its hard to find flanges or V-Clamps, regular clamps are readily available and band clamps are available from Summit Racing or Jeg's and sometime local parts store. Vibrant should have ample support for band clamps

well i got it installed...decided to just throw on some regular clamps..got lazy i guess....plus with it being stainless steel i should be ok....maybe thats just my ignorance talking there....funny thing tho with it...the pipe is 2.5in....and i couldnt use the stock gasket at the catalytic converter, so i took the pipe to autozone..and they guy gave me a lexus gasket to try....worked really well actually....the exhaust sounds really good too i like a ton better than the pacesetter...definately a good choice for 275 shipped...just wondering tho how it will sound with an intake and or a header?

I have seen the U-bolt clamps in stainless steel before, I just don't remember where (don't feel like looking now either!).

I just threw on the 2.50 clamps....and called it a day....if they rust since the pipes are stainless theoretically the pipes shouldnt rust when the clamps do...so cut them off and put new ones on
