Ok since tax season is around the corner. I have extra cash so i decided to do a swap. im going with a 2.4 cause i could get it allot cheaper. the question is what do i need for the swap? i tried searching for it and i could not find it. So that's the stupid question . What do i need ?Go ahead and say the negative things . also my car has the 2200 in it do i have to mod the tranny mounts for the 2.4?

You will need the 2.4, the 2.4 mounts, the coolant hoses, the power steering, I think the 2.4 radiator, the 2.4 auto trans, the engine bay wiring harness and ecu from a 2000-2002 cavalier with 2.4. Thats the basic stuff i can think of off the top of my head.
As Zs Z showed, the list is pretty large. He mentioned you'd need the transmission. All 2.4 auto's used the 4-speed, so you'll need the shifter too if your car has the three speed. Actually, it's easier if you have a complete donor car to get everything from. And, the electrics/electronics changed dramatically in '00, so a donor from then or later would be best. It would be cheaper and easier to sell your car and spend a few hundred more on the one you want.

Get a donor that's been popped in the back for 1k
2grand for a swap is insane. . I only have 600 in mine and that was everything. On top of the that 2g'z for a beat up cave or fire is a rip. Take your money else where. Like check a yard and pick up a motor. You might get a better deal if you buy everything from them including the tranny and such. In which you might have 1200 in it. Also search for my post on the 2.4 swap in the 3rd gen forum everything is there besides putting it back together.. Never finished that part.

Now I don't know to awful much about the 2.4 but I do know in my 3 speed when i unhooked the shifter cable from the tranny the shifter went back two more notches then it did hooked to the tranny.. I have a 95 also..
