exhaust resonator selection

i will be needing to buy a resonator here soon after i install my pacesetter header and high flow cat. my completed setup will be a full upgrade to 2.25" include dul magnaflow mufflers. its already loud and the highflow cat and pacesetter header is gonna make it alot loader. my state (virginia) has noice regulations and i will need a resonator soon after the install. with all the different makers and different sizes available how should I choose which one i need to keep a nice deep tone within the legal db's to keep from getting fines and forcing me to change my exhaust.

thnks

go with a 22" or longer Magnaflow to get the results you want.

FYI 22" resonators are the longest Magnaflow makes.

touche, i looked and your are correct. My bad...Thrush must make longer ones...and to the OP, you definitely will need a resonator

Vibrant Performance also makes resonators, although they only have 12" or 18" long, but their resonators are a .5" smaller in diameter than the Magnaflow resonators. The Magnaflow resonators are pretty big and bulky.

I had an '02 ECO powered Sunfire GT with a Pacesetter 4:1 header, 2.25" piping, Magnaflow 16" cat, Magnaflow 22" resonator and dual Magnaflow oval mufflers and it was still way too loud for my liking and it could get very raspy when accelerating. Dual exhausts are always going to be louder than single exhausts.

Yes they do. Theirs go up to at least 32" long I believe.

2.5" IN/OUT - 18" magnaflow worked just fine on my 2.5" exhaust with pacesetter header.

Straight-through dual magnaflow mufflers as well...
