i have a 97 z24 i bought from a friend and the tranny is blown but the motor runs like a champ, i just bought a 95 z and the tranny is fine and the motor has a blown head gasket. both are the 5 spd tannys. anyway i was wondering would it be smarter to put the LD9 from the 97 into the 95 or to just fix the 2.3 quad four? and is the tranny the same bolt pattern as the LD9 and its tranny? well i was jw cause im new to J-body and im only 16 so im gonna have my dad help me and please dont hate i know im 16 and just need some help makin a fun daily driver so yeah any help would be awsome.

Thanks
David

There are a few routs you can go. Of course the general consensus on this site will tell you to find a 90-92 HO 2.3 and put it in the 95 cav even though thats not what you asked. If you are just looking for a car to drive it wold probably be easier to just put the ld9 in the 95(no motor disassembly). The 95 2.3 is not as good as its predisessors. It has the same ballance shafts and oilpump as the ld9. With what you have If you want a little performance take the 2.3 head and a drill and dremel and match the head to the 2.4 head gasket. Then use that with the 2.3 intake manifold, cams, and exhaust manifold and put them on the 2.4. You will however need tuning software to adjust for timing and the compression will be so high you will need to run premium gas. But it makes for a peppy little enginge. If you choose to go this route seach for 086 head swap to find info about how to drill and match the head to the 2.4 gasket. If you ever want to boost the car then id say use the ld9 because turbo manifolds are more readily available for the 2.4 head and there is a bolt on supercharger for i too.

awsome man thanks im prolly just gonna swap the ld9 into it and put simple bolt ons but like i said its gonna be just a daily driver/project until i have enough to put a down payment on a new car or i might try to find a new project idk but yeah w.e i dont use will be for sale if anyone needs anything the 95 is gonna be the car im gonna use but the 97 has some stuff ppl might need

Thanks again
