lsj header quick question
Thursday, April 16, 2009 3:59 PM
going to pick up one to finish off my exhaust on my 05 eco. however this one LINK has an 02 sensor in it, simple question is do they all have this, do i need to get one from a certain year to not have that o2 bong in it?

exhaust as of now is downpipe back 2.5" with magnaflow cat and super 40 muffler. NO i will not get an aftermarket header as I dont have the ability to have ti welded up to match the rest of the exhaust and I NEVER let a shop touch my car.

you need the o2 bung...why wouldnt you want it there....if it is a problem, just find a plug for it.

I dont need THAT 02 bung mine is by my cat for my 02 sensor, question was if they all do or do not come with that.

also another thing what is the difference between the gm "extruded honed manifold" and the stock lsj manifold. the honed one is over $200 but i can get the stock lsj for $84 from the dealer here.

That o2 sensor in the header is what manages your air/fuel ratios. Run without it and see what happens.

There are two o2 sensors - one is in your header (or should be near your engine head) to manage a/f ratios. The other is after your cat to make sure the cat is working.

so you're saying your car doesn't have an O2 sensor in the manifold?

I think you need some glasses and a flashlight.

The ECO runs 2 o2's one on the mani, and one post cat.

never did i say i wanted to run without my 02 sensors, i would liek to run the ones i have now in the same postions so question really is then is this bong same size threads etc so it will fit my oem 02 sensor that is on my l61 now and the other question still stands about the extruded honed vs regular lsj manifold.

O2 sensor bUngs are the same size.. universal standard.. part of the whole OBD-2 standard thing.

if you want to drop $200+ on an extruded manifold vs getting a true-blue 4-1 header with a much larger primary for the same price.. well.. yea.

I'd go for the 4-1 and upgrade the entire exhaust to match the new collector size.

if you want dirt cheap just go with an OEM LSJ manifold and bolt it on.

Thank you PJ.

my exhaust is already upgraded! lol this would be to finish it off finally.

my exhaust as it sits now is stock exhaust mani, 2.5" mandrel bent from the downpipe back piping with a magnaflow cat, flowmaster super 40 muffler and 3" tip. so i just want a bolt on type header to finish it off. I've had this setup for over 2 years on this car now btw.

I can get a stock lsj mani for cheap here so i will probably do that with new mani gasket and dp gasket whole thing will run me under $100 so that makes me happy

even a little better upgrade is better than the stock mani thats on there now. I would get an aftermarket header but my friend that helped me put on the exhaust and did the welding since I cant weld for shi*t moved to other side of state so welding is out of the question.

btw anyone want a header for a 2200 I have one brand new for sale. ( wife didnt end up wanting it on the 98)

Yes, o2 sensor threads/bungs are universal.

So then my question is, where is this other o2 sensor near your cat? Did your friend weld in an extra bung or something? That's kinda far to be from the engine exhaust valve outlets.

ok the one on the stock manifold is in the same spot. the 2nd 02 sensor near the cat is in the same place is was from the factory we just drilled a hole and welded in a bong in the new piping for it and it works great. never had a code thrown since ive owned the car, I am a maintenance freak.

like i said ive had this exhaust for over 2 years now and I love it, it sounds mean, and where I live in sv az theres no db laws, its not that loud anyways but alot of people ask me the old does that cav have a v6 question.

ive always used flowmasters on everything and love em. only cars i didnt use them was on my crx (had a dynaflow) and on my 98 cav i have a nice mellow cherry bomb turbo muffler. everything else has always been flowmaster.
