HELP!!! Gas Gauge

ok is it just me or does the cav gas gauge suck.

my gas gauge bobs around all over the place and i never know how much gas i have. i spent $75 in gas in 4 days because of this. i cant afford that. Now i know i am technically spending the same amount monthly but i cant spend it all that close together.

Please tell me if there is something i can do about this. i need this info as soon as possible.

Assume you get 25 mpg, and go about 325 miles every time you fill up. Use your odometer.

i have been using the ODO but due to the different driving conditions i am constantly exposed to that is easier said than done.

is this a gauge problem or a pump problem? a friend told me if the float in the pump gets cracked or dryrotted this can happen. can i replace the float without replacing the entire pump?
