Am i the only one who is sure there is no hp gain by putting a CAI / WAI for an intake on a stock cavalier?
Your thoughts.
I would bet if you have a high flow filter and have it routed to actually draw cold air from somewhere like the fenderwell there is a gain.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Misnblu proved it through extensive tests on the track.
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
5 hp gain dyno proven on a stock ecotec engine with 2.25" exhaust and motor mounts only (5 hp gain above gains with the exhaust), I'd dig up the dyno's but meh, not really a thread-worthy issue to debate about.

There is no easy ways to get HP, no magic box or gizmo... And if you get more hp, there's no way to make your car still behave and sound like a stock one. More hp usually makes your car louder, more vibrations and harder to drive...but still people hope or think maby there's some magic way to have it all, comfort, stock sound and drive.

It has also been proven on the track that removing your antennae will lose a .10 in the quarter mile due to improved aerodynamics.

who cares. it sounds badass when you lay into the throttle.
laugh out loud.
I'm tired of wasting my time... now I'm breakin' free.
How is anyone sure? The gain is minimal, and any numerical gain could be attributed to changing conditions and variables beyond the modification.

Dyno chart from an otherwise stock automatic cav with an ecotec. I can't believe we're having this discussion AGAIN.
stock AUTOMATIC 2.2 OHV makes 115hp at the wheels?
Thats bullsh!t.

STOCK AUTOMATIC CAV WITH AN ECOTEC. I thought I made this part pretty clear, but apparently not.

it only says
Stock 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L. It could be the 2002 2.2L Ecotec as well.

Hahaha, bull@!#$.... but if it were true I wonder how much I'd lose with the bomex aero mirrors.

I shaved off .5 seconds of my 1/4 miles by not sticking my *8===B out the window.
My wife's 2003 Ecotec 2.2 liter Sunfire:
* 2 1/4 inch turbo muffler
* 2 1/4 piping to a 2 1/2 inch resonator
* 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter
* 2 1/2 inch down-pipe
* a match ported 4:2:1 RK Sports 'clone' header
* an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition
* 8 gauge ground wire kit
* Toyz front strut brace
* Vibrant rear strut brace
* and Russell stainless steel brake lines all around.

Don't put your tail there PJ...it'll start to smell funny.

4 Cams...32 Valves...5 Liters...This Could Get Fun!
Im sure they do something.... but I have a hard time trusting a dyno chart that was printed by the company thats trying to sell you the part
The engine will breathe easier.... wiich makes the pistins go up and down a little easier...... obviousley thats gunna free up a few HP from somewhere....but..
I'm curious how much of a gain you would see If you tuned the car in question for the CAI.... (im sure it would be minimal tinkering if anything)
Funny how everyone has something to say to credit or disprove CAI or WAI, but no-one has a single thing to say about FAI (Fresh-Air Induction). You know... A system that actually collects air from the head-wind the car sees as it drives down the road, and feeds it to the air-cleaner housing, followed by the engine in preferably as short as path as possible? Something that actually works in helping the engine to breathe better & make more power, as opposed to making it work harder to suck air up from a downward hole in the fender or worse, suck in hot air that'll increase the possibility knock occurring, actually hurting performance?
But then, whadda I know...? I'm just the guy who implemented such a system & saw gains... That's all.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Bah, we should all just connect a filter right up to the throttle body, there you go, instant throttle response beotches!!!!!

Hmmm, another one of these threads.
I'll stick with my guns on the research I did and Nickelin, you are correct in that thinking with the 'fresh' air setup but you won't find any ram effect that will give you suitable gain.
Always a good topic to discuss.

Thank you Dave and JBO!
Oh, I wasn't looking for any ram-effect... I was just saying that by letting the force of the air in the headwind fill the inlet tract (Cooler air, at that!) there is a lesser need for engine pumping to draw it into the cylinders. That's all...

you got a dyno sheet for that?
