Hey guys,
My car has been acting up on me lately. It is a 2002, 2200 automatic Cavalier, and within the past three weeks, the RPM's have been jumping all over. I had a shop replace the TPS sensor, as the symptoms I was experiencing was very similar to others here on the forum.
However, I was still experiencing a high idle... Normally my car would idle around 600 PRM when warm, however, now it jumps up to 1200-1500 in neutral or park.
So I took it back to the shop, and they replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, some wires, basically a fuel system tune up... It sounded strange to me, but the shop said that there is a TSB for these symptoms, and this is what was required... It struck me weird, however, I went with it.
Got the car today after the work, and the car is still idling high when warm. I thought that it was the idle air control (IAC) however, the shop said that the IAC is not responsible for regulating the idle (interesting statement).
So my question to the forum is - Did I get screwed? Has anyone else had similar symptoms, and replaced the IAC and see the problems get fixed? Do you agree that it most likely had nothing to do with the spark plugs (which I did myself about 10000kms ago)?
Let me know.. I have the manager calling me tomorrow.
Thanks.
this should probably be in the maintence section, but o well.

i know its not the same engine, but it sounds like the same problems. on a side note my eco is doing the same thing, i just havent had a chance to replace the IACV which is what i think it is.
