intake
free flowing exhaust
chip

more work, but a 3400 swap, or Gen III top end swap would be OK.

but wouldnt a Gen3 top end swap....well...wouldnt u hav to change the harness or ECM? or will it work with the 2nd gen computer?
sorry im new to cavalier....wayy diff then s10s
2nd gen computers run ALOT of stuff... It would be fine on a stock tune though.
My car is still run on the stock computer with a custom EEPROM chip, stock wiring harness.

I say go with 3400 swap, more or less drop in, bit of work, but if you know your way around cars you should be ok

weld on length of chain and bam boat anchor. lol jk. swap a 3400 or 3500 the 3.1s are very restrictive but i think u can use a gen 3 60* top end but u would need custom pushrods. plz dont take wat im saying as fact tho i dont know alot about the older 60*v6s. your best friend will be 60degreev6.com do a lil searchin over there and u can learn alot about all the 60* motors.
3.1s are still fairly well supported in the aftermarket. One thing no one mentioned is the MRZ crank and alt pulleys.
