Hey folks...Got my '96 'fire going again but I don't trust the motor too much..after much thinking about tradeing the car in I decided to build this for now..Hell, it's paid for !!! Anyway, In your opinions, would it be good to get another motor like mine and build it or do a 2.4 or Eco swap...It is a 5 speed now and would prefer to keep it that way. and yes whatever I do for motor i plan on mounts and a decent clutch..If I missed a forum somewhere please let me know and I'll look it up. I'd love to do a turbo or charger set up later down the road but I'd like all motor now. I know what involed in a 2.4 swap but Eco, I'm new at those pretty much...Anyway, Any help would be greatly appreciated and welcomed....

switch motors, either 2.4, or eco u'll be doing yourself a favor.
there is a search button you know...
im building my LN2 and its proving to be a PITA, but im doing a lot of changes to mine, including tranny swap
what ever floats your boat though there is plenty of information in these forms you just got to know how to look for it, also check 3ed gen form for ecoswap how to
i didnt look in third gen yet....i know there is a search button....i looked for a bit and got cross eyed at all the info...was looking more along the lines of what the better idea would be and i did add that if i missed a good thread to point me to it....i am steadily thinking of a tranny swap too....just trying to find the right path before i start tearing stuff down

Ferry that eco swap how to is for a 2000+ swap which is completely different from a 95-99 car just FYI.
Id go with a 2.4, which is going to be your easiest bet, or a V6 swap, which there is a nice sticky of how to in 3rd gen.
v6 swap is'nt a bad thought at all
V6 is pretty much a bolt in option, there are a few things that need to be made, I think quicklilcav is selling mounts that make the v6 completely bolt in. I'm thinking of an idea to make a plate that bolts on the automatic tranny mount holes for a 5 speed swap, I havn't took any measurements though to see if this is possible.
