im thinking ahead on ld9 turbo build
Friday, March 12, 2010 4:24 PM
i just got a second engine from a junkyard and I'm going to try to build a 400+ 2.4 ld9 for my automotive high performance class so (boring, port and polishing, balancing, etc is going to done at the school. ) and the school has a dyno so i was planning on getting HPT and tuning my self after it was built .
but any suggestions will help

i was thinking :
2.3l oil pump swap
clevite77 bearing (main and rod)
wiseco forged pistons
eagle connecting rods
turbo exhaust manifold
Garrett T3/60-1 w/ .48 a/r http://cheapturbo.stores.yahoo.net/gat3w48ar.html
oil lines
**maybe** w41 cam turbo grind, hex, and OBDII modified and 2.3 lifters and springs
Cometic Multi Layer Steel Head Gasket
felpro gasket set
750cc fuel injectors
walbor fuel pump
and if that nice adjustable cam gear kit is complete lol: http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=450358&t=426299&p=8

oh and SS valves but I'm not sure on the cams or maybe ld2 cam i dont really plan on revving past the stock rev limit but if the w41 cams gives me more power at higher rpm's then i will take that lol

you'll need HO Springs and 2.3 lifters to run W41 cams.

you should port and polish the head and upgrade the intake manifold. You can also reduce the weight of the crankshaft by knife-edging it and then balance it.

Get a nice turbo header as well. PM me if you would like to look at one i have. I would go with a bigger turbine, like a .63.

i would guess an upgraded clutch would be in order.

Also i second the motion for a larger turbine.

ld9=worst motor ever! Put a eco in there build the head upgrade the cams put a nice turbo in it. And get a getrag f23 and build that tranny and whatever else you will see the difference, on the long run!!!

i forgot to put a BLACK intercooler and change pipes on the list and i personal really like the LD9's over the Eco's (not bashing you eco guy or not starting the LD9 vs Ecotec WAR)
and i been think of getting :

Garrett T3/60-1 w/ .82 a/r
COMPRESSOR SPECS:T04S housing
flow: 61 lbs/min 781cfm
.70 A/R housing
60 TRIM wheel
TURBINE SPECS:T3
.82 A/R housing
HIGH FLOW 76 TRIM stg3 wheel
