I know this isn't the first post about this subject. I searched and was just looking for a good solid answer. Are the GM cam gears worth the money and time? Ive been reading that it's hard to adjust them. Hows the install?
Thanks-
GM Makes Adjustable cam gears....
this must be an ecotec thread because ive never heard of this for the LD9, and the LN2 only has one gear...
Yea, I found some on the GMpartsdiret website. I'm just curious about the install and the power gains...?
Unless you are building some type of crazy eco, then no they are not worth it.
i know nothing he he he he
for me . . . its about getting the correct valve/piston clearance. power gains well . . . maybe a few whp
my current setup with my crazy europe cams and my LE5 crank and my 12.1 : 1 pistons and a .080 head gasket, . . i have .070 clearance on both intake and exaust, think without checkin my notes (i think) intake is retarded 2 deg and exaust is advanced 4 deg, im in thought process and if you want exact just ask
if i were to run stock cam gears, there would be trouble, it flat out would not work ! not enough clearance, but i could measure then take out the piston and fly cut it put it back in and check it, then do it again if not correct, but again a few whp . . not yet, lets just get the thing running first
