I have been searching this for awhile and never found a direct answer. I have fart can, put it on when i got the car, at first i thought it was cool but quickly began to hate it. I have been looking at getting the Dynomax Super Turbo. My question is, does it sound good on stock piping? I still have the factory resonator and the cat, should i replace these as well? I just want a decent sound, and louder than stock but not too loud, and not raspy souunding.
I just put a dynomax super turbo SS series on my 05 sunfire to replace my ricer day fart can. It has a tone to it. The best way to describe my tone is that it sorta sounds like a G35 a little. Only reason why i say this is because one flew by me when i was thinking this and they sounded similar. For me My Dynomax was a 100% upgrade. on a scale of loudness(1-10)fart can = 8 | Dynomax = 2 (louder than stock, and not raspy)
O and i have stock piping.
i have one but i cant say about how loud it is while being stock lol
gardenmega - you said you have stock piping.. does that include the stock resonator and cat?
arrival - lol well thanks.. love your car, its one of my favorites
just do what i did. header->cherry bomb glass pack->stock pipes->cherry bomb turbo muffler

Yes everything is stock Resonator and Cat.
Where is the cheapest place to order one from?
Also on the dynomax site, did the vehicle look-up and cavalier was not in there..
I have recommended the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler several times. It is the only muffler I have personally had experience with that sounds good on a 4cyl. I put it on my car with stock piping and my brother has it on his S10 with stock piping. A buddy of mine also has it on his 6cyl jeep and it sounds great. I know there are a couple mufflers that sound good on our cars, but this is the only one I have heard in person and used personally that I like. You can get them from Summit or from Advanced, etc pretty cheap.

Thanks for everyones input.
One last question, what size is the LSS muffler tip? or what size is a good size that looks factory?

If you're just looking to install a muffler, and not a whole system, consider the apexi WS2. They come in universal sizes, and are one of the LEAST raspy mufflers out there, almost stock sounding.
Personally, resonated or not, the super turbo is significantly louder than stock. The WS2 would split the difference.
my cherry bomb turbo, is ALMOST as quiet as stock untill i get on it, then it has a little rumble to it

I listened to some of the apexi's, sound pretty loud.
I am personally using a thrush super turbo muffler that I ordered from jegs.
I like the sound, isn't loud at idle but can definitely tell its jot stock when you get on it.
I have a pacesetter header, dynomax 2.5" high flow cat, 2.5" glass pack and 2.5" piping to the muffler placed in the stock location. It looks stock, I didnt use any type of tip, its just pipe at the bumper.
I will be doing a side exit just in front of the back tire when I put the turbo on. I plan to use the same components, just relocated.
I've never been a fan of using any type nof performance muffler on a stock exhaust. If you need to replace the muffler because it rusted out, buy an OEM type replacement. If your actually looking for performance, redo the exhaust. Even going 2" is better than the stock 1 7/8" exhaust, will flow better but its not too big to kill low end power. A lot of people get away with 2.25" exhaust with an intake and header without sacrificing too much low end power.
"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"
mine with 2.25" piping and a 24" resonator
Loved that setup.
with exhaust listed above
