Solid mount?
Sunday, July 18, 2010 7:01 PM
Ok so i've done some looking around and found that the only true solid mount i can get is through level zero

i was wondering if that is the only one out there or is maybe there is another one? i'm looking for JUST solid mounts not any kinda poly's

i have a 96 cavalier 2.4 5spd

I'd bet you could get something from TTR. Although their uppers have a urethane insert, they could probably machine an aluminum one to replace it, and they may be willing to do this if you ask. Since their lower mounts are billet, it wouldn't be hard to just drill out for the bolt instead of machining out for the bushing.

What's wrong with level zero? I've heard of lots of people using them with no complaints.

Some people seem to have issues getting ahold of the owner. People fail to realize he is a one man show and the parts come from canada. So sometimes it takes a little longer to get stuff then if it was made in the USA.

I actually just met the owner on the weekend and seems like a good guy.

taking a little longer and flat out avoiding customers who paid months beforehand are two different things.

We have mounts, dont go true solid metal on metal, you will have major vibs, and most likely give false knock to your ECU and it will reduce engine power. You get basically no movement with our mounts, yet it is NOTHING like metal on metal mounts... They are horrable.

At this time I dont care about vib's this car will be strictly a race car! but I well take it from you as the mounts don't move

just buy the ttr or rksport mount. y would u want to risk dealing with a company that has ripped off tons of people?

i have had both mounts.. i liked my TTR mount the only reason i got rid of it was due to the powdercoating job (which i have heard has been improved) now i currently have the LZM mount with the solid bushings and have no issues with it..

^^^ how was the install on both of them? if you had to chose one over the other may i ask which one you would chose?

I finally removed the TTR mount because of issues with the poly section getting settled and starting to warp.
In the picture below, you can see the eventual happenings if I were to keep the mount in the car.

I was actually happy with the TTR mount but with the above going to eventually rub metal to metal I decided to go back with a combo that I knew would work for the life of the car.
Stock mount with poly insert and I can say that the vibes are less and still very little engine movement similar if not equal to the TTR mount.

I also bought the LZM mount but with all the issues, it's a very nice Kandy red paper weight.

The LZM lower mount never fit because of the poor machine work so I sold it and retained the tried and true RK mount which looked like new after 10 years of being on the car.
I bought the LZM mount because it was much lighter than the stocker and TTR mounts but with issues of the top plate warping and bushings not holding up under normal use, it sits in storage.

Good luck with your choice of mounts though. The only upper mounts I've not used is the RK upper mount but I'm quite happy with the stock mount with poly insert.

I purchased the LZM and installed them about 2 weeks ago.
No problems with the products, or shipping.
I've met the guy before too. he knows his stuff.
I'll post if I have any problems with them
