not thinking, i ordered a 2.5" cat when my header flange is 3" and the atomic piping starts with a reducer beginning with a 3" flange... the cat was supposed to go in the middle...
i know exhaust shops can expand piping, but 1/2 inch?
suggestions?
Or get some cone piping to act as a transition. This is what I did to go from 2.5" to 3" on my cold side charge piping.
Get and cut down to size. You may need two of these for each side of the cat

or grow a sack and get the damn 3" already.

i ordered the 3" this morning... now hopefully i can find someone to buy the 2.5" off me and i'll be good... otherwise its a $50 mistake
*reopen thread* its not that easy... im a va state inspector... and if i get caught without a cat, i could lose my license... if i then get my inspectors license back and they catch me a second time, i could go to jail.
considering a high flow cat and no cat have almost the same performance capabilities, i go for the more legal route
If you went to a exhaust shop theycan expend it up to 3" no problem at all the inners of the cat would not change just the piping size .

This obviously isnt true but i do understand your situation now. Having no cat is much more beneficial than anything.
ive always heard without major forced induction, the gains between high flow and no cat are minimal...

Thats because no one on here makes power. Build any car and try and make real power, you will see no cat is way better. For a street car tho you prob wont be trying that hard for the power.
my family has owned a exhaust shop for 25 years and their isnt much difference between a "high flow cat" and a eom except that the sizing of the biscuit is bigger. A convertor itself is a misture of rare metal, and titanium which through heat makes a cheical reaction which in turn makes the car cleaner. A high flow cat and no cat you will see a big diffrence in sound and performance
