ok i guessed this as a good area. i have a 93 cavalier (the one in the sig pic) with a 2.2l. i bought the car back in december. runs great but the exhaust is rusted to hell and back. the cat is still intact but the pipes rusted a hole in front of the cat (i patched it but the patch keeps coming loose) and the pipe about 8 inches in front of the muffler rusted so bad the muffler fell off while i was driving. i have another cavalier with a good pipe on it and a cherrybomb already attached. however the guy i got it from had the cat knocked out of it. im debating on switching the pipes around but worried about performance issues with no cat. ive heard that this may negatively affect my HP and MPG. i live in a county with no emissions. can i get some info and opinions please?
93 cavalier with z24 body parts
Pretty much true with the performance and loss of mpg.
If the cat's gutted it's going to cause alot of turbulence in the exhaust which is going to effect your scavenging of the exhaust gasses.
But if you need the exhaust to get you going, do so until something better comes along.
Good luck with it.
