fartcan = loud. unless you run a real muffler, it's going to be loud. like stupid loud.

If the glasspack is long enough, it will quiet it down a bit. A silencer would also make it quieter though.....or cement
yeah trust me a fart can is not the way to go...i have one and it sounds like a honda at higher rpm's
i put a glasspack on to replace my muffler. and it sounds good and it does't sound like honda's.
I have Headers, stock cat, 2.25 pipe, and a glasspack and this thing sounds scary fast, also its a 2.2 Non Eco -- looking at getting a diff cat or just removing the cat

Where did you put the other header? You need to post a sound clip of this "scary fast" sounding car.
I have a header, all 2.5" piping, magnaflow high flow cat, 30" cherry bomb glass pack and running a thrust super turbo muffler. Isn't that loud at idle or cruising around. You can hear it when I get on it though.

In my car, the resonator didn't make it louder at all. It go rid of all of the rasp and lowered the tone. It made it sound more like a car then a weedwhacker.
add a turbo --------> resonator-cat(fake cat) -------->27" long glasspack ------> N1 muffler (then it wont sound bad)
well the fartcan may or maynot make it sound worse or better but it adds to the look
the megan has been around as long as people have been modding their third gen j's. it's the rapsiest most foul sounding piece of crap you could affix to your car.

How does a gaudy and shinny thing hanging under your bumper add to the look? Unless the look is ricer I don't see how.
Edit:
Just read your profile. I assume by you "putting new neons in my truck with a switch panel" that the look you are going for is in fact ricer. My bad, continue on.

DSM skline, I'm sure you did some experimental things when you were a junior in high school too.....
I did actually. it involved bags on an s10, turboing a gs eclipse 1g, skyline taillights in a 1g eclipse and playing with the z24 that I still have. I can assure you there has never been a fart can on the cavalier, eclipse and talon both had them with the turbo, but they sound different with a turbo. None of them were on stock piping.
There has never been a neon on any car car I have every owned.
I have never put any aftermarket wings on my cars, the set of 17s on the z are the only.aftermarket rims I've put on my cars, (other than the 20's on our explorer).
No body kits other than the trd kit, that's because it was made specifically for the cavalier, its not a generic kit made for all kinds of cars.
So to answer your question, I did experiment in high school, just never with rice. Being young is a poor excuse for stupid modifications. Neither is it an excuse for not having money to do things right. I worked 35 hours a.week to pay for my car payment and insurance and saved money to do mods.

I think it should be noted here that all "fart-cans" really are is a stock-size muffler-case that's been gutted, streamlined inside with fiberglass loosely packed in & a megaphone placed on the outlet. And given the relative location of mufflers on FWD cars (All the way at the end) there isn't even any length of pipe for whatever sound it may produce to resonate within, which hopefully would fine-tune it to something more pleasurable to hear. Even a simple glass-pack muffler located on the very end without any type of muffler with real baffling mounted upstream (How it was done on Cadillacs years ago) of it would sound the same: Terrible! So put a real muffler on the end & save the glass-packs for mounting mid-stream & fine-tuning.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".

here is what is raspy and a waste of money http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lnai1uw7fTg&feature=related
You do realize he has the same muffler (thrush glasspack) as well as another muffler, new cat, and larger diameter pipe. This means it is deeper, quieter, and less raspy than yours.
