we bought a97 rs auto was wanting to swap my 2200 5sp in it when it gets done

I would swap the cluster if your auto doesnt have a tach. The manual clusters also done have the auto gear indicator

No, you do not need to swap the cluster, unless like stated you want a tach.

Other thing, if you have a LOW TRAC light. On the manuals, that becomes the upshift light. So every time the ECU commands the upshift light to be on, it says LOW TRAC. And you'll probably have to do a passkey learn since the cluster will be different from the donor car. No big deal.

My car was originally a 97 2.2 5spd, and came without a tach. I swapped to a 4spd auto cluster.
