Can you use a 99-01 head gasket without egr valve on a 96-98 head/motor with egr and vise versa?
head gasket has nothing to do with egr...
I dunno, can you post the same thing in more than one forum?
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
now im not 100% sure but i think all years heads/blocks/gaskets are interchangeable.
Yes, water and oil passeges are the same.
There are 6 differences from a 96-98 head gasket compared to a 99-02 head gasket without egr
WHITE- New 99-02 head gasket port holes for the block, these are not on the 96-98 gasket.
YELLOW- Relocated head gasket port holes, changed from the head to the block, the heads port holes will be blocked off and the newer head gaskets holes are being used for the blocks ports.
What did GM change this for for?

lol didnt seem to help any atal.
00+ still burn bearings like nobody's business hahahaa
Lol just because I couldn't find a actual picture on the net of anyone posting a difference between the two gaskets, figured I would....
Does this gasket change oil and coolant pressure flow?
What gasket should you want to use? for stock or performance? and especially if you have the 2.3 oil pump?
Something seems to matter... What if lol.
pretty sure it doesnt matter. niether year block seperation has over heating issues nor cracked head issues. they got it right with the LD9 and the cooling system the first time.
All 2.4s use the same part number for a replacement head (the newer style with a slightly larger combustion chamber). From what I recall there was no specification for using the newer gasket on the older block. That being said, my 98 has a 2000+ head gasket and my 02 has a 97 head on it.
all clyde's cars give good head.
