I Love My 2.4 Twin Cam but I trust the reliability of the 2.2 Ecotec more. I am curious as to what all needs to be done to make this possible?
please please PLEASE search third gens n the org as their has already been MANY MANY topics that cover this over n over as well as a how to. Dont mean to sound rude but search is there for a reason.
bahhhhh yet another thread where the point needs to be proven that the reliability is the same as long as the engines are maintained...
since you have a 1997 you will need to rewire your entire car (including behind the dash)
if you are still interested...
you'll need to replace everything (including all engine accessories, radiator, gauge cluster, etc)
still interested?
you'll need to move and reweld the transmission mounts

Piece a cake....now where'd I put my visa card?.....
d
it is what it is...
lots of money
lots of parts
lots of work to make it work
same reliability (considering the maintenance is performed)
less horsepower in stock form
keep your 2.4...
Kyle is right if you WANT the ECOCRAP then by all means but unless you have the coin and/or a parts car, there is not point, 2.4 is just as reliable as the ECO, heck my old engine went over 535,xxx km on it (whatever that is in miles), I have seen both engines die early and both engines last, for the 10 hp less and the coin your going to put in there doesn't seem worth it
