thread

ok, so everything worked great last night when i checked the starter, it started just fine about 5 times in a row, and i wake up this morning and all it does is turn over with no fire, i read in there that the wires that got yanked is for the CPS sensor... and if thats not plugged in it wont start. but without knowing this me and my roomate shot some starting fluid into the intake and it turned over eventually, but then died about 2 minutes later. could i have messed somthing up by starting it and that plug not plugged in? i just hope nothings wrong with it and its just that plug.... any help would be appreciated...

Yeah, the crank position sensor. I would wire in a new plug. Autozone use to carry just the plug.

bet you could have got it for like a dollar at the JY.

If you're wondering the reason it started with starter fluid is because no CPS = no fuel. So you just lit off the starter fluid. Not sure how it knew when to fire the coils without the cps though.

yea you can usually get them for cheaper then that, i had to replace one on my car that i broke cause i leaned on it while shining up the engine bay, at lordco auto parts it was called a "two prong weather proof connection" cost like 4.xx i think

Make sure you wire it properly polarity wise if the new plug doesnt have the same color wires.

The coils run off the Crank Position Sensor. Injectors use Cam Position Sensor.
