Roller rocker help with a 1997
Monday, January 16, 2012 11:32 AM
I have searched and read thru a lot of different threads. I have even PMed some of the ones that have already done this mod with nobody replying. I know which studs and rockers to purchase... BUT I don't know if my valve cover needs to be spaced or not. I know the 2200 (98-02) needs spaced, but what about the 95-97 2.2? I basically want to buy all the parts without running into a surprise. Thanks for any help.

I think u pm'd me I still have rockers for sale. I have a 97 and I had to grind the baffles inside the valve cover. U could possibly eliminate having to do so with a spacer, but then u may have to space other things.

grinding the Baffles sounds easy enough.

Not to bad. Really depends on what rocker you get.

I never did on my 97 2.2. I used the Comp Cam's rockers for the 3.1. Not sure what you're using.

From what I understand thats why comp cams were the best choice and most expensive

You don't have to with stamped, but might have to with some billets (most people use the Comps on the 97-, so there's not much experience out there to pull from). Cam lift and ocker ratio could also affect the grinding necessary.

Thanks everyone and thanks Josh for coming back. I will be looking for the comp cams and going from there.
