I got a 2.2 cavalier coupe that im going to do some customizing with. I know you cant get much out of a 2.2 haha, but how can i get as much as possible out of it.
Also, I'm not looking to spend thousands of dollars. I was thinking a few thousand dollars over the next couple years.
You've already got a decent system so...
-Tint
-17" wheels/tires
-Eibach Pro-Kit/KYB AGX lowering setup
That should be enough to make it a decent cruiser and those three things can be done for around a grand.
lol invest in a paper bag for your face!
Just kidding!!!
lol Honestly I wouldn't put ANY money into a 2.2 unless it was to gut the engine/trans out of a good body. for 700-1000$(around here at least) you could swap a 2.4 in and up it from 110/115HP to 150HP. Thats going to be your cheapest $$perHP combo. It'll cost you like 20-30$ per HP.
Anything else 'cheap' that you in relation to the engine will eventually just make you bang your head off the wall after you realize that you could've spent the $ on something more useable(ex. seems like youre an audio kinda guy.) How pissed would you be if your amp or a sub blew, a week after you spent 300-400$ to get an extra 10/15 HP that you can barely feel. This is when you'll realize you're riding on an engine that was never intended for anything other than commuting, and small balling an S-10 around in the first place.
If you aren't willing or can't do an engine swap, Id give up on engine performance all together, and just make the car look really nice.
And i'm not trying to be a jerk or discourage you!!! I'm just saying, its going to cost a LOT to get any kind of performance out of the 2.2. Use your money to enjoy your car, not fight with it.
A few thousand would be a good turbo setup or a higher compression N/A build if you know where to look. Just because nobody likes it, doesn't mean you can't get any power out of the ln2, it just costs more.
so what do i have to do to swap a 2.4 into my cav?
