Cams installed?

Just picked up a set of comp cams for my 2.2L ecotec and need to know some recomended shops for install, if they have done cams on an ecotec before then even better but even just a good shop that knows what they are doing...... also, does anyone know how many hours I "should" be paying for???

hey brad. congrats on picking up the cams.

have you gone to pay a visit to Vic at Simone Performance yet on Mulock in Newmarket? from what i have seen and heard of they do good work at SPI. hes a Nissan specialist, but does just about anything on any make of vehicle.

as for how many hours you SHOULD be paying for, im going to ask around to a couple friends and see if they can look up something like that in a Chiltons or Mitchell for how long a cam replacement normally takes on an ecotec (amount of hours are listed in those manuals).

good luck! I had a bad experience with cams. but they were from a different company.(LZM) I hope you have better luck than I did. It's not hard at all...but you have to make super careful you don't foul up the timing chain.

make sure you let us know how you like them after the install.

I've done them a few times. Sure wouldn't recommend trying it without the J-tool for holding the cams gears in place, and I highly doubt your typical backyard garage has one.

But hey it's your car
