So.. everyone knows about Sport Compact Car wanting to do a j-body project car. We obviously have the numbers when they have to dedicate an entire page to the responses of our peoples who wrote in to them in support of the idea. But as many of you know, we're not well-liked in the spo-com industry. Most of these "car people" view us as no more than wannabes tryin to get a piece of the limelight. In fact, last month's issue had 2 douchebags (can I say that word?) who wrote in to bad mouth us and to why a j project is a waste of time. See now, I've read about people bashin on us for yrs now. I usually dont care. But when its finally time for a nationally known mag to wanna show us some recognition, and these *ssholes wanna destroy that, is when I gotta draw the line. And another reason this pissed me off is the fact that the 2 letters printed were either completely off-topic and had nothing to do with a j at all, or it was a loser who's comparison of why Cavaliers suck was based off his friend's riced out OHV car (I'm not dissin the OHV guys, so dont go there), and then used the rest of his space to brag about why his '84 Nissan 200SX would be so much better
So I wrote in.. and I ripped those 2 guys and every other j-hater out there a new one. I pray to God that they print the letter.

I truly hope they do not do a J project car. Besides it has already been done in another mag.

This is another reason I do not want to see them do one. Most people on this site will not be able to appreciate it. People will complain because they used the wrong motor etc.... We have to realize that most car people do not like our cars. Most realize it was meant to be a daily driver, and only at the end of it's time did it start to become a good sportcompact. Also because of how "US" ( and in Us I mean the people who own them) use them/drive them, we make them look like crappy performers.

tru... that is a valid point...

I like the fact that they willing to give it a shot, despite all the nay-sayers. It shows that they're seeing something in our lil cars... but you're right about how everyone will just bitch about it. I'd be one of them.. I wouldnt wanna see them use the OHV 'cause in all honesty, its slow.. the slowest of the bunch. Its our econo motor. Now I know people have put alotta power thru that motor with impressive results, but I really doubt that they'd go thru all the steps to do so.

The only reason they are or did consider doing a J project is because everyone from this site ( or 85
flooded them with letters after they ask what car should they do. So it appears to them there is a market. I actually picked up the mag today that just did a build on a 99 RS. It was a good read. They did not go out to get mad power, and they did not. When you compare the mods and pwer gains to the mods and power gains on the other cars they did it was right on track. Even if SCC did a J project I would not read it. I think that mag sucks, and will not buy it.

I see both side and can agree with parts of what everyone is saying, but I myself would love to see a J project. I too have seen some J's done way wrong or so over done that you could cover the window with Rice Tickets. But I believe that every car has potential to be more than it's humble beginings. I went to the IDRA Dragstock at THE ROCK this weekend, and saw some amazing Cavaliers there.
Holy Burnt pistons Batman...we used too much NOS!
i'd rather them just do a feature story about existing j's rather than have them through one together and read about how difficult it was or what they could or couldn't do - @!#$ most of us have done most of what they are going to do to it anyways - not like there's rerally anything new out there on the market...
just my 2 pennies...
all in all i just read the mag in the crapper anyways
