trip to atlanta need hotel help
Wednesday, August 06, 2008 6:13 PM
I am going to be traveling to atlanta to see the cubs play the braves and also going to be visiting my uncle in cartersville. I was wonder about a safe area for me and my wife to stay. I was thinking of staying in Kennesaw, Marietta, or the north side of Atlanta. I am not looking to be close to anything other than the highway between the to towns, and it only going to be for one night. I just want somewhere safe to stay any help would be appreciated.

well, it depends on when you're going to the game. if you're planning on going to the game and staying that night, then staying in downtown atlanta would probably be best. there's a LOT of hotels in the area, and most all of them are nice. i also wonder what your definition of "safe" is, do you plan on walking the streets at night or something?

Any of the ones where 75 and 475 split are good and safe, well as safe as you can be in Atlanta.

I was going to recommend Kennesaw/Marietta as thats where my girl friends from and its so nice there..

Best Western Right off the Kennesaw Exit i stayed for 62.00 for a king size bed. The bed was comfy as hell(when your on the road as much as me thats how you rate rooms haha) and very very clean and modern. Safe area, stores near by....

If you dont go there, just watch your self, i ended up at a small motel (i cant for the life of me remember the road) and as soon as i pulled out i got pulled over. Car searched, 3rd degree....ended up being a drug running hotel and the cops took me to the best western.

Thanks for the help. I booked one in Marietta. Looks to be safe enough for me as I do not plan on walking the streets in the middle of the night. I mostly am just looking to avoid staying in the hood as I do not know much about ATL. Its only a few minutes from 285 and will be easy enough to get on 85 to go back to NC.

My wife picked the Hilton Atlanta Marietta Hotel & Conference Center looks pretty good for my budget of under 100/night. It seemed convient because its between Cartersville GA and Atlanta. Thanks for all the input.
