this is the 2nd time this has happened.. i have a full exhaust and when i get up to or at redline n let off to shift it 'pops' n throws a 6" flame out but im wondering if the pressure or something else from it is causing somekind of spike in the ignition system or if its cracking the coil cover. right after a shift the other day it started missing, it idles fine but as soon as it gets more than half throttle it cuts out.. this happened bout a year ago and as soon as i replaced the coil cover the prob. was gone. anyone have the same thing happen??

i had a mini flame on my stock 2.2 turned out to be an exhaust leak and bad spark plug/wires
dont think its related.. i dont have an exhaust leak or spark plug wires..lol (2.4)

check your fuel pressure reg. and check for a stuck injector! sounds like you're getting way to much fuel and its not burning it off.
but it idles fine and recently only started mis-firing on low end pulls.. soon as im above 3500 it either runs perfect or barely misses. but i will check into that cuz i was stuck in the mindset that is was def the coil cover which is 120 bucks and non-returnable. and its always thrown a small flame when shifting @ redline (since exhaust install)

may want to consider checking your compression, incomplete burns love to cause flaming tail pipes.
might also explain your low end misses

its not a constant flame.. just a 'pop' with a 6" fireball..
