ok i know this is really stupid to ask but i just wanna make sure, a hybrid is the regular 3.1 block with a 3400 or 3100 top end right. and is the hybrid if its right quicker than a whole 3400 cuz i heard the 3.1s are quicker off the line
is somebody gonna help me
it all comes down to hp and torque. in theory, the 3400 will have more torque and hp because its bigger (with all other things being equal, wich they pretty well are).
now in a fwd car, more torque can be a bad thing on street tires. it just equates to tire spin, and that will slow you down.
Yes, a Hybrid consists of a 3.1 block and 3100/3400 heads, intake and exhaust manifolds.
The real reasons too build a hybrid are fit. The 3.1 block will directly bolt into the Cavalier. The 3100/3400 you need a custom front motor mount bracket for it too work. Also, the 3100/3400 is a hydraulic roller block, while the 3.1 is hydraulic flat tappet. The roller has a lobe shape advantage, but Cam's are expensive (300-500 bucks), while a performance cam for the 3.1 is around 120-130.

another few questions to add here, lol
so if i were to go to the wrecker and get a set of 3400 heads, intake and exhaust, i can get them machined at my work, and then get the gaskets and bolt her up? plus all the little things to go with it. Now what i'm wondering, is... what about wireing and computer and stuff like that, what else might i need?
thanks
