Hi everyone,
Ihave a question about parts and swapability of the 2200 and 2.0ohv. I can get parts real cheap where I am at and and just wish to do some experimenting with my little indestructable toy motor. Does anyone know if any of the 2200 parts ie intake manifold, heads, pumps, or even starters will swap out tween them twine? Or if at all possible, will the entire engine swap out without any cutting, welding, hammers, or violence? I hope it will just take custom mounts and some wiring. Perhaps even a matching transmission. Price does not matter! The question is, can it be done?
Go to NY J-bodies.org (Google it) and look in the library (the 2.2 history article) for pretty much all your answers.
Wow! I now know where to get that good info, but one last bunch of questions is can it be swapped? OBDII also comes to mind when I ask that. Other than that, will all the old mounts still work with it and will it bolt up to the old tranny?
just run your factory ecm and wiring harness
As long as the old engine is the OHV and not the OHC, the trans will bolt up since the block is the same. You should be able to use the 2.0 mounts, but you will need to mdoify the accessory bracket/engine mount on the end of the 2200 since it doesn't use a rear mount. The bosses are on the block, and they may need to be drilled and tapped. Its do-able.
motors are the same from 93-97...

thanks for the helpful info
haha. i just cought the part where it said "violence" ahaha.
like i said before, the motors are the same between 1993-1997. i think in 94 the heads got a few changes, but the bolt patterns are the same. i also beleave that in 98 the rollers got smaller. because a friend of mine did a 97 roller swap in his 02 2200 ohv when he ported and polished it.
but if money don't matter, why don't you do something a lil' more performance orinated. like a 2.3 quad 4 swap, a 2.0 OHC Turbo swap, a 3400 swap, a 3100 block with 3400 heads swap, ect.
if your gonna play with your toy, and plan on at least a head swap, you should port and polish it, and get a low compression head gasket. then take 2500 bucks to up the fuel/exhuast and add a turbo
