GTZ24 latest update...
Monday, July 18, 2005 8:43 PM
Well I spent a couple of days with my buddies down in Chicago and went to a couple junkyards and found a couple complete black interior Z24's. So I spent a couple days at the yard and pulled 98% of the parts that I needed to swap over my interior. Now my buddy is good friends with the yard workers so I got these pieces for dirt cheap. I also grabbed some 3.1 5 speed parts as well as more 3400 parts. Since my buddy lives a good hour and half away from me, I installed half of the interior down at his house and threw away the blue parts. The rest were ghetto packed into my car. Only parts I really need are a good carpet and headliner as well as a driverside power window door panel.

The dash install and power window install is going to take place next week. Heres the pics of my project interior...

As for the seats, Im going to stick with the GTZ seats. Someday Ill get them recovered in leather, but that will be a long time from now. I also grabbed a tilt Z24 seat slider from the one of the Z24's and installed it today. Well after tearing out 60% of my interior looking for the floor pan seat belt bolt holder, I discovered that the base models differ from the Z24's because they have the seatbelt attached to the seat frame and dont have that bolt in the floor pan. So I sat there contemplating my options and since I dont own a tap and die set. I went with my second option and fabricated a bracket to attach the seatbelt to the frame of the tilt Z24 seat sliders. So I had to take apart my seat frame that I fabbed up and had to change it to fit the new brackets. Oh and my drill press took a crap on me today so that was another delay in this project. Bahhh. Oh well at least my trusty angle grinder helped out. Between fabrication, drilling, redrilling, and design change and then installation and reinstalling my interior I spent the entire day doing this project when I only planned about an hour for it.

Now for the pics of todays adventure...
