Well i have decided that i am going to stop waisting money on my crap of a motor 2.2L i am going to the junk yard soon to pull and buy a 3.1L..... I am going to just put it on a stand in the garauge and SLOWLY built a full built motor, a little here a little there! I will be starting college in october so i wont have to much money but im going to build it i dont care if it takes 5 years, I want to do it right!! So with that said...... starting from the bottom up what should i get ( Brands and places to shop!! ) I want to go ALL out!! any tips oppions, and ideas please let me know!!

Those of us with the 3.1L's are ditching them for the 3400's. Don't waste your time with a 3.1L. Just step it up straight to a 3400 v6.

Your talking alot more $ for a swap like that, Alot of custom crap. And then you still are left with a boat anchor of a motor. 3800 S/C blocks weigh just as much as a sbc, the heads are iron and the whole freaking thing is only a "good" motor due to the s/c on top.
3800 in a jbody leads to excess weight in the front end, wasted $ and time consuming setup to install.

yeah i was looking at that like 10 min ago because my older brother is in the army and is keeping his 99 grand pree at my house and it has the 3800! I am more then likly going to do the 3400 swap.... i just have to get my money straight!!
Just keep looking around for a cheap 3400... i just picked up an 2002 for $300 out of an Alero. They have come down in price alot.

Yeah well at my local junk yard it is called pick and pull and you just get what you want and take it out your self..... Motors are only $100 then the Trani is $100 and the wire harnis is $100 so thats about that price im looking at too.... i just have to find a good motor that doesnt have a bunch of crap missing!! and a but load of miles on it!
man this swap looks kinda hard cause they keep saying use this or you cant use this from your 3.1L or 2.8L..... I have the 2.2L sp I think this will be kinda hard!! I dont know we shall see!!

All of the 60degreev6 engines bolt up to a 2.2L transmission with no problems.

What would be the easiest way to get the wireing harnes? Get it out of what ever car I get the motor from?
I looked on ebay and I couldnt find anything..... mabey I just dont know how to search... if anyone knows where i could find one for a resonable price let me know! If not i guess I will end up getting the one out of what ever car i get the motor from.
I'm using a 2.2L tranny in my car now, and its 3.1L powered. I too am jumping to the 3400. But with boost. Its not that bad of a swap. I have a wiring harness but what year is your car again? If u have ABS you'll have to strip the wiring from it to your ABS computer, so all that works. I have a complete 91 5 speed wiring harness with ECM, all plugins there. From the ECU to d.side distrubtion block

now when you say strip you mean get the abs wiring from my harness and put it into yours?

Hey what do you guys do to cool these beasty engines? Radiator? Wold the 3.1L cooling system work or would i need something beter?
