can you put 3400 heads on a 2.8? can it be done or has it already been done....if so are there any minor/major mods or is it a direct bolt on? also i found some headers for the 3400 on rsmracing.com will they fit a 2.8? there a little pricey $700...i would much rather make my own....does anyone have some specs on that. reason im asking bout the head swap instead of the full engine swap is i dont have any where to do the swap and my 2.8 is my only form of trans. and i could do the head swap on a day off and not have any real down time.
It can be done. I believe you will also want to swap in the pistons and crankshaft, as well...
is it worth the time to do just the heads....how much of a diff. could i expect hp and torque wise....or would i be better off to just do a complete 3400 swap since you said i would want to change pistons and crank and you have to pull the motor for that so.....could you just change the heads and see a diff. or would that be a waste of time?
... biger is better...
you can swap 3400 pistions and crank, as the 2.8 water jackits will start to show copper.... but you can use 3.1 slugs.
also get a 3.1 eprom to run it or reburn your to make the most of the 30 persent better flowing heads and intake plenums.
or just swap a 3400 compleat.

Been done. I was the first to do it. (was a 3.1L though, same @!#$ different stroke)

HERE For info on the Hybrid swap. Heads will bolt on. However you have to use all the top end components for the 3x00's for it to work. including p/s pump, engine front timing cover ect..
Look up "Hybrid swap" on the site I sent you to. Thats our site that we run for this type of swap.

Headers WONT work. Trust me when I say that. I bought a set for a 3400 Grand am. They do not fit around the transmission on the front header, And the rear will also have to be cut and modified to try and clear the firewall. pics of how and why are HERE
I built my own headers for my bird. They were a long tube equal length setup. Not just a simple task to do for just anyone. If you have welding skills and and fabrication skills its not hard at all.

No. Not in a day. A weekend maybe. Not a day for the average person who has not attemped a hybrid swap before. Its not that daunting of a task. Just alot has to be changed and you need to have ALL your parts there and modified ready to go before you try and attempt it if you were to do it in a day.
