will a 2.2 bolt up to a 1993 5-speed in a sunbird.
nope. the 2.0 ohc and 2.2 ohv have a different bellhousing bolt pattern.
i always thought the 2.0 took a diff. tranny then the 2.2. only reason i say that is because i threw a tranny in my cav because it burned up and i asked the same question you are asking now and a few people told me they weren't sure. but the thing that makes me wonder is the fact that my old sunbird gt turbo had a getrag tranny in it. did the cav aver come w/ the getrag? i know i'm not making any sense right now but i'm just throwing a few things around in my head to come up w/ an answer for ya cause i had the same prob once and i just like to help fellow jbod fans. plus i hate when i can't answwer a queastion lol.
People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
the 1.8/2.0 ohv, 2.2, 2.8, 3.1l, 3400 (all the v6's) use the small gm bolt pattern. the 4 cyl motors used the isuzu 5 speed, were the v6 used the muncie 4 speed (85-86), then the muncie/getrag 5 speed.
the 1.8/2.0 ohc isnt a gm based motor, its built and designed oveseas. i guess you could call it the brazil bolt pattern (motor is built in brazil). it is completly different than the small gm pattern. now the 1.8/2.0 na motors used the isuzu 5 speed, the 1.8 turbo used the muncie 4 speed, and the 2.0l turbo used the getrag 5 speed.
thw quad 4 family (2.3, 2.4, and i think the eco is the same)also has its own bolt pattern. the 2.3 lo and 2.4 (till 99) used the isuzu tranny, the 2.3 ho and w41 used the getrag.
so whats the difference between the them all?? all the isuzu trannys are pretty much the same, just different bellhousings. same deal with the getrags, different bellhousings and there are a wide range of gears for em being they are used is many applications.
