Does anyone know what seats will bolt directly in to replace the ones in my 94 sunbird. I was thinking of GTZ seats or I saw a 1990 with 97 grand am leather seats in it. he said they bolted right in I wouldnt have thought so though. I dont want to drill new holes, any ideas would be appreciated. thanks.
Grand am- no.
But I think the GTZ seats might work..I would have swore someone here did that...
yes the gtz seats will work theres a few people floating around here that have them. plus i've seen it done in person
People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
I'm not 100% sure about this but my cousin had a 89 Calais which was on the same platform as the Grand Am back then and his seats were the same as the ones in my cavy sedan so it's a possibility that pre 92 N body seats will bolt in and I believe Berreta seats wil bolt in as well but like I said I'm not 100% sure. Go to a junkyard and check out the seats and measure the bolt patterns.
i do like the gtz seats but i dont know if they made darker colored ones. I have a black intereior and the grey ones would probabally look kind of funny. does anyone know if they made different colors? thanks.
anyone have any other comments or suggestions?
2001 GMC Jimmy seats fit perfectly. usally they are dark seats, very comfortable. just kinda hard to find. me and my friend did it on his 89 Z24. very good mod and well worth it. gtz seats should work, i was gonna try some 92 eclipse seats to work, i bought em today so ill see if they match up later. there's some other suggestions dude, i really like the jimmy seats tho, but i didnt wanna copy my buddy. lol

thanks i have to go to the junkyard and see what i can find. it also depends on how much they will want, otherwise i may just replace my drivers seat because its bent.
if they end up costing to much, then i have good front and rear seats for the bird. dark grey, no rips, no holes. good cond. u pay for shipping and 5 bucks, and there yours.

thanks I will check into it as soon as it warms up a bit.
Make yourself and adapter out of 1" square by .125 wall aluminum tubing (3/4" square might work)---drill the bottom holes to bolt into the existing floor holes, and the top ones to match the new seat bolt spacing.
Then use whatever type you want for a seat.
The only downside is you will sit 1" higher.

grand am leather seats work yes, you might have to take the track off the sunbird and put it on the g/a seats i forget. my buddy has them in his 89z
saturn 5speed turbo 8psi
93' z24 grand prix turbo 3.1 swap, crane 272 cam, 3100 hybrid top end swap, t04b turbo
my 89 cavy vert has firebird fronts in it, if the seat and rail doesnt bolt it just change the rails from your car to the firebird seats
most Gm stuff from the same era will bolt to your rails
I CAN CONFIRM GTZ SEATS FIT I HAD THE GTZ RECARDO SEATS IN MY CAR... BUT THEY ARE BACK IN MY GTZ THEY ARE REALLY COMFY!!! I WOULD GO WITH 00+ CAVALIER SEATS
thank for all the info i will have to check the yard and see what i like i will probabally go with the gtz seats though because i really like them and i think the rear seats will fit in too (can anyone confirm this?) plus they will probabally be the cheapest. thanks.
As I said on V6 Z24, the rear seat bolts in without a problem, you need to cut the back seat support members that block off access to the trunk.
As for the fronts you need to cut off the Beretta "hoop" and make 2 adpater plates, drill holes through the GTZ seat subframe and then bolt the adapter plates to the GM Cavy sliders.

That should give you an idea of what I mean, it really wasnt that hard. BTW that pic shows the mockup metal pieces, I got better metal for the final pieces and trimmed them to match the round shape of the subframe.
I used Grade 8 bolts to connect the seats to the adapter plates.

I have 97 Sunfire seats in my car! They are a definate change, they hold you in better, but sometimes are uncomfortable and cause my neck to get all tight....
thanks again for all the help guys and the pics.
i want some z24 3 g seats
will the 3rd gen seat bolt up directly

i have 2000 sunfire seats in my 2nd gen... bolted right up!!!!
however you have to swap the driver seat belt....
and you sit up a little bit higher... not too much, but noticeable
EDIT... er Seat belt latch...
Yeah it took me a couple days after I put the Sunfire seats in to find a sweet spot that allowed me good visibility and the ability to reach the clutch all the way to the floor
Also, I noticed that since putting those in the amount of times where ive hit myself with the visor has increased
As for the GTZ seats being too dark, three words: SEM spray dye. Works WONDERS with any type of fabric. I used it to dye my convertible boot, and there's no indication it was ever anything but black.
How does it stand up to moisture? I've tried a couple of spray dyes over the years that looked like crap when they got damp (even normal summer-time sweating on the seat wrecked the job)
