like it says what in the bird can i get rid of to cut back on weight.....this is what i thought of so far an aluminum fuel cell, remove spare tire and well and fiberglass over it, no a/c, 1 bucket in back instead of a bench, fiberglass hood, fenders, trunk lid, like to get custom doors in glass, replace 2 back windows with plexiglass........any ideas let me know......
I assume this car will never see a public road again?
VFN fiberglass makes everything you listed.
I don't think you should use fiberglass to repace the tire well. Its part of the unibody, and the glass will end up cracking as the car flexes. Use sheet steel instead.
thanx for the info james.....y do u assume that it won't see the public street if its cuz of the plexiglass, i wrecked my moms z26 and her back pass. window is plexiglass and she didn't have no inspection problems......awesome ain't it......i also am doing a lightweight bumper reinforcement...i'm tryin to get the car as light as possible so more power has a greater affect.....
Because if you have even a minor accident it will destroy your fiberglass body panels....if you are trapped, people wont be able to break the plexiglass to get you out...having 3 bucket seats will just look weird and cause a visibility problem for you...
i want one bucket behind the passenger wanna put a fiberglass sub box behind driver.....know its stupid when i'm tryin to loose weight but i need my thump....as far as wrecks go i'll always have the stock panels to put back on..
try loosing stuff like the A/C, Heater, put on and eletric water pump, and lose the power stearing, that will loose you about 50lbs. and the eletric motor for the water put adds about 1/2 a pound, and will move enough water for any kind of driving you do. and arm strong stereing is a fallback, but the pump uses a lot of power to turn. the only thing you should run off the actuall motor is the altinator. i do this in my race truck, and i never get over heated, and i never have to lose the power i need for the race. i gain a lot of power and a few less seconds in the end of the run. lose the stereo, dash, everything, only have power breaks, and get a 4 in 1 guage that tells you the RPM, voltage, water temp, and oil temp. get a small spedo. lose the door panels, and trim, headliner, etc. go with plexiglass windows all around, keep the proper front window. aluminum rims. i can sugest a few other things, but i dont think that you even want to do half the things i just sugested. note my race truck now it nothing like it used to be, i sold the first one that i gutted, and the second one that was very light, and now i'm in the middle of building an even lighter rig with tons of power. if you want to know more email me at dinobot_989@hotmail.com
