Could this do it?

After weeks of frustration I finally found a small leak in the fuel system. Its the tank itself.

The leak has to be right at the top, since it only spills if I fill it right to the rim (which I almost never do) and only found it because I toped off for a long road trip,

So, can a tank leak cause a pressure problem that causes the engine to run rich? Is there a pressure sensor sitting SOMEWHERE that could be reading low pressure back of the pump and hence feeding the engine more fuel?

The main problem with this motor is the rich running. Not the "normal" pontiac rich, but ridiculusly so. It had a very hard time passing emmisions and floods in warmer weather so wont hot-start untill it clears itself.

Rice.....Part of a balanced Pontiac diet.

there was a recall on our fuel tanks back in 1992 for 1987-1992 cavaliers. the tank on top was not welded all the way across. sorry for the fact that you cant trust the second hand fuel tanks because of the recall. well at least i wouldn't trust them.
