Just wondering if an axle from v6 5speed is different from I4 5speed. I can't seem to find any 4 cylinder J's with manual in the yard I usually go to but I know there's a V6
if i rem corectly one will interchange the other is a diff lenth if ya take the whole tranny from the v6 it will bolt up to both the v6 and 4 cyl
the 4 cyl (2.2/2.0 ohv) tranny is an isuzu, the v6 is a getrag. the getrag will bolt up, but your shifter cables are gonna be different, as well as a few other things.
mine isn't an isuzu. I have a muncie 5 speed
all the 4 cyl cars except for the 1.8l turbo and 2.0l turbo got the isuzu tranny. the v6 and 1.8l/2.0l turbo got either the muncie 4 speed or the muncie/getrag 5 speed. the 4 cyl cars never came with a muncie.
what motor are we talking about here???
Either way, the axles won't swap. The Getrag/Muncie (MG2) uses an intermediate shaft design on the right side, and the left side is a different length. The Isuzu (MK7) uses two axles (no intermediate), the right side is just really long.
the older muncie 4 speed sed the long passenger side axle, and i ran that when i swapped to my getrag. you dont have to run the intermediate shaft.

Thats in a 1st gen right? I thought we were only talking 2nd gen trannys here.
actualy, yes, the muncie 4 speed is only behind the turbo 1.8l and ironhead v6. however, the axles are interchangeable, so he could use an 86 v6 axle on the pass side with his 2.2l and the getrag.
Do the Muncie trans and the Isuzu trans look different? I found a diagram of a HM-282 in one of my books and it looked exactly like the trans in my car, but I can't seem to find it now. Anyway, as for the pass. side axle, it's not the one I need anyway
