Flywheel bolts???
Sunday, June 11, 2006 6:50 PM
You would think something as simple as flywheel bolts would be readily available. I'm putting a motor previously in automatic Beretta, in my newly aquired 90 z24 5speed. I have to switch the flywheel over and I really don't want to reuse the old bolts. I'm in eastern Ontairo, I've all ready checked Benson Auto Parts (Auto Parts Extra), UAP NAPA, and Crappy Tire. Nobody has a listing for them??? I really don't want to go to the dealer (I'd rather burn down the place than buy stuff from them). anyhow please drop me a line if anyone can help me out.

Got a front bumper last year, just too lazy to paint it, and put it on

My (Original)90 Z24 is now being retired
Way too much rust Maybe it will become a V8 or something very wrong (4x4)

Picked up another 90 z24 from the west coast no rust!
But a rod bearing is spun. I got a motor, just need time!

Man do I ever miss my 3.1 V6

go ahead and use the old bolts, they will be fine. if you have to replace them, then the dealer is the only option

I thought that there was a difference between automatic and manual flywheel bolts?

So you can only get them at the dealer, eh? I've hurd of reused bolts failing (because they already been stretched) and causing a fair amount of damage. What do you all think?

Clean the threads thoroughly on the bolts, run a tap through the flywheel / flexplate, use high temp red loctite, and torque them to spec.

I reused mine a few times. They should be fine.

I would reuse the old ones too. You gotta really have some horsies to break those things. I put a 406 cu in small block in an s-10 with a stick, I bought new ones for that. I got them from www.jegs.com I dont know if they sell them for the cavs, but I know that they have a lot of sport compact stuff.

They're only like $8 for all of them at the dealer, brand new. I don't know where this fear of dealerships comes from. Most of the time its the customer at fault when they overpay and/or get the wrong part.

This is because my local dealership that I bought my 2k Cavy and 03 Cavy off of will screw over anyone they can. The word customer service is not in their vocabulary, heck the word service is a stretch for them. I'll never spend another penny or step foot in that building again. Anyhow I know of other dealers that are not too far away. But I think I'll take some of your advice and just use the old bolts. Thanks to everyone for your input.

i've reused my flywheel bolts 4 or 5 times now.. they're holding up fine to my built 3400 / stage 3 clutch. Just gotta make sure the threads are clean and you use loctite...
