May she R.I.P. 3/10/98 - 9/19/06

Today my fellow J's is a sad day that i wish wouldn't happen. My J is too rusted out to repair for my income so i'll have to put her down. I pulled the windshield out to repair the pillars next to the windshield which really wasn't that bad. The real problem i found was when i was sanding the rocker panel below the doors. The rockers are completely rusted. Thought they had olny surface rust but found out i was wrong. To add to the pain the underside of the left rear quarter panel is rotted out & i've got 2 mint doors for it. I've put 106,000 miles on the car since i bought it & it's been so good to me. Just put new rims, tires, complete exhaust, CV joints on it too. It took me 4 years to get a Z kit for it & put the bumpers & hood on too. She still has the original trans in it & the only work to the engine was a head gasket when the car was under warranty 8 years ago. Was looking forward to getting the body kit on & painting it. Bought her 3/10/98 with 57,467 miles on it & she passed on 9/19/06 with 162,145 miles. [imghttp://c:\documentsandsetting\rob\mydocuments\mypictures\cavalierparts\cavalier078jpg.

if he's smart, he'll put those up for sale in the classifieds, rather than posting them here and getting his thread locked.

sorry to hear about the car.

you know, i love when people like to criticize others about their behavior,
but turn around and do the same freaking thing months later...

Hey thanks guys, yeah i'll probably strip the car down & sell as much as i can. Hoping to get a good tax return this winter & maybe find a J that isn't rusted but has engine problems & can do a engine swap. Not going to get my hopes up. The doors should fit a 89 BUT since these doors are spotless & look like they just came from the factory i'm going to want what i paid for them $100 a piece. That's what i paid each for them off of a member on V6Z24. Everyone there said the guy was asking too much & the doors were cheaper at a bone yard. I checked car-part.com & the avg. price of a door in this condition is at least twice the amount i paid. Anyways to answer your other question the head liner is in great shape but i have a aftermarket sunroof so there's going to be a hole there.

I'm in Cleveland but, after thinking about it since the rockers are rotted & the car would be stripped, i'm going to try & cut out the bad parts & patch the rockers. I figure i've got nothing to loose. Only the outter part of the rockers are rotted. The inners are ok. If it's too much B.S. to deal with then i'll part it out. Really didn't want to part it out since the car is still driveable.
