2.2 overheating
Wednesday, September 27, 2006 7:48 PM
I was out with a friend of mine last night and we were spotting. We were sitting iand looking at a bunch of deer when the car overheated and made a gurgle sound. When we started going again it went back down to reagular operating range. She said its been doing it for the past week and the fluids are full. Its a 94 cavalier 2.2, with 120,000mi. Any ideas? I thought maybe it was a fan.

Sounds like a fan issue to me. Either the fan temp switch is bad, or the wires are corroded, or worst case, theres an issue in the steering column wire harness which provides the 12v hot for the fan. The 2.2s are notorious for blowing head gaskets right under the thermostat housing, check for any possible leakage there, since it will be slow but noticeable.
