3100 V6 Questions...
Saturday, November 25, 2006 7:18 PM
I was told some people do these swaps and hopefully somebody know about the motor. Got one in a skylark and think I have a lazy switch that kicks on the fan. Does anybody know where the swiches are located for the fan to kick on?? Dont know if this is the right place to post.

thre is no fan switch as per se. you have a 3 wire temp sending unit. one wire is ground, one is signal to the gauge cluster and the other is the signal to the pcm. the pcm is what switches the fan on. likly if your gauge is reading alright, the pcm is seeing the correct temp. id check out your fan relay, it could be the reason why the fan doesnt come on.

the fan comes on, its just getting lazy. After 220 slightly. It used to turn on right at 220. Thats why I was thinking lazy switch or possibly a stuck or slow therm.

for the 3100 info.. check out www.domesticcrew.com and ask anything else over on v6z24.com

if the thermostat was stuck closed the car would overheat, open the car would never warm up. Your problem seems to be either the fan relay or the fan itself. If the temp sensor was going out it wouldn't kick the fan on at all.

Relay might make sense. I dont think it could be a bad fan.
