I have a 1993 Cavalier 2.2 VL auto and I found a 2.2 coupe stick at the yard today with a tach/OP cluster. First question how they hell do you get the old one out without breaking it? Next how can you change the mileage (My car has 78K on it the cluster shows 119K). Will it work with my car being a 1993?
Thanks
Chris

Yeah the sending unit is different. Any parts store should be able to get it for you. The odomoter unbolts. I haven't messed with one in a while but it should just unbolt and replace with the other one.

the new cluster probably has a trip counter where as the base cluster doesn't so if you want to use the trip counter you ened to keep the old odometer, i can't for hte life of me remember if the plastic housings are the sameor not, on mine i just popped the metal rod the number wheels ride on and rolled it to my mileage and clipped it back on and put it back togeter, can't even tell it was screwed around with
The trip odometer works fine, I just put the thing in and it works mint. However I am showing 120K as opposed to my 78K. I might get a donor one from the JY and try a few things. I hope I can keep my mileage.

yes there is a way to roll it back tho, i did it on mine when i installed my tach cluster in my 94 2.2 i just popped the rod out of the white plastic braket rolled the numbers to where they hsould be and clipped it back, if they didnt line up perfectly i popped it back off and adjusted it and kept doing that unti i got it, also roll back about 5 or so miles lower then your current mileage, then roll it forward by spinning it by hand, that way any problems with the numbers not lineing up will show as soon as you spin it, mine works awesome just rolled 200k kms
