Hey guys, i think im going to give my car a tune up this weekend, and was wondering what you guys would recommend to use for plugs and wires. Im also going to get some sea foam and try cleaning out the motor too while im at it.

I have been using Bosch wires and AC Delco Rapidfire plugs, and have had good luck with them.

If it's a GM, Delco plugs. Wires? If it's bone/relatively stock, any upper line brand (Belden, Borg Warner, Standard Motor Products, Champion, Bosch, etc) will do just fine.

did you guys manage to snake your hands through to get at the plugs on the coil pack. did anyone do anything special, the wires look hidden down there. Thanks for the suggestions, i have 50 bucks of canadian tire money on my credit card i have accumalated which i will use for the tune up. I also found a really nice sunbird gt i hope to snag for cheap, motors dead but the gfx are really nice, along with those rims.

Nah, they arent hidden or anything...just remove the air filter box and the coils will be right at the very end of the cylinder head on the driver side...

Good to hear 89bird. Well i talked to the guy with the sunbird for sale and he wants 500 for it. The body looks really nice, and it may be running, but not very well. I think im going to buy it, swap parts and sell it for hopefully almost my money back. I'm planning to keep my car for a while, so may as well make it look good.

Thanks for the help mangs, this site is awesome.

If you buy a car just to sell it, you should make more than you are paying for it...it doesnt make sense to flip a car and take a loss on it

Im going to take the rims, the motorized headlights, the bumpers and gfx off the GT car and put it on my car, then take my crap and put it on the GT, and then sell the GT for more or the same money i bought it for, so it would be like getting free appearance mods. Im not going to try and flip the car, i just want the goodies.

I looked at the car really closely today, it had minimal rust but it looked like the guy was a bad driver or something. The front and back bumpers has some paint cracking and black scape marks from minor hits. I think im still going to buy it tho. I really want those wheels. And i have confirmed that the car runs.

I changed my plugs and wires yesturday, and holy @!#$, they made an unbelievable difference. I also did the sea foam treatment throught the combustion chamber and gas tank before i swapped plugs, didn't notice too much. But DAMN, plugs and wires eliminated my hestiation problems completely. Car has more power too, it actually accelerates now. lol. The old plugs didnt look too bad but the old wires, i think they were the original ones, cus they were still numbered.

About the sunbird gt i want to purchase, would it be a bad idea to put the side skirt on my door,>>which is rotted out on the bottom, or do i have to fix the rot before putting the side skirt on. I was going to just completely swap doors, but the gt has power windows which i dont want, has a different door panel, which i dont like, and also has a really dirty door panel to boot. what do you guys think.

id say... new door... or clean up the rust and paint if it isnt too bad.... im on de-rusting my sunbird lol... sanding all the rust off the bottom and painting... man is there a s***load of just in the back lol.... anyway.. they also make "rust converter" which takes the rust and converts it to a black primer.... then also theres naval jelly which breaks and eats away the rust... im using those 2 on alot of my de-rusting stuff...

goodluck with that david, sounds like a hefty reward once your done. I duno if im going to buy the gt after all. I think im going to have to go through a lot of bull after its all said and done. I think im just going to try and keep my eye out for some rims. My car doesn't look that bad the way it stands. You guys should of seen this sunbird i saw in a hamilton chevy dealer i delivered to . It was a 94 2 dr le like mine but blue, showroom quality paint finish, no rust at all, and 78 000 KM on it. They were not even going to sell it (was traded in), it was a part of that car heaven program where they will give the car to a school for kids to play with or something. That car was unbelievable on the outside, and the interior, dont know about the engine.
