my ac condensor has hissing sound, and i charged my freon the other day, and the entire can went into the system and still no cold air, so is my condenser the problem, i have checked everything else and it seems to work, the only thing i haven't done is take it to a professional.
I don't know j-body's yet........but I will!
You should inject dye into it, use the special light and glasses, and find the leak and fix it.
is the dye available anywhere?

There are decent little kits you can get at most autoparts stores which will have the protective glasses, special light, and you can buy a can of freon with dye preloaded into it or you can buy it by itself, put it in, and pressurize the system with freon. After it leaks out, wait until night and shine the light on the components in the AC system, and look for the brilliant green glow. There is where the leak is.
thanks i will try that today.

By condenser, you do mean the fin/tube structure in front of the radiator, correct? If that is hissing, there's a leak - 100% guaranteed.

i thought the condensor was just the thing where the belt attaches, i think the thing in front of the raditor is just a cooler, and then the canister thing is the drier...
"Hondas are like tampons, every pussy has one!!!"
The compressor is what is the belt driven thing, the cannister looking thing is the receiver drier, the thing in front of the radiator is the condenser, and the part that is in the dash and what the air flows over to be cooled off is the evaporator. There is also an orifice, fittings, and lines in there as well.
do u have any like black oily build up around fitting if so thats where its leaking
how hard is to replace the condensor? I tried to loosen some of the fittings and they are stuck like a bi**h.

It's not hard, but you need good line wrenches or you will destroy the soft aluminum fittings.
I lost all my A/c last year and am missing it this summer, I have black gunk all over the side of the engine, I thought it was Oil at first but once the A/c didnt' work I knew it was that, my engine hasn't leaked oil in years....Once it's empty, is it to late to refill it with the old stuf? (it's a 94 Cav) will I have to get it upgraded to the new system?
