Ok, so my brother has a 92 pontiac sunbird LE. I noticed last time I rode with him that any time he pressed the brakes, especialy at speeds above 20 mph, the brake pedal would pulsate pretty hard and the whole car would shake rather violently, making a kinda thunking sound.
my first instinct was warped rotors, but my uncle just replace the brakes a couple months ago. at that time I recall him mentioning something about the CV joints. so I need to know ASAP what you think this might be, CV joint or brakes or something else?
I dont think CV joints would do that...your uncle replaced the brakes, but did he inspect or replace the rotors? Very small warping that is barely visible could cause bad vibrations....
ya, he replaced the rotors, but Im gonna remove them and recheck. I figure they prolly used cheap ones, so maby they had warped since then.
They're J-body rotors. They warp. They warp frequently. They warp when old. They warp when new.
