I've seen mention a couple of times of converting the front strut bar from a 91-94 to fit the rear of a 95 and up J. Is anyone aware of this ? I've done a search , and have'nt seen anything.
I've never heard of it, but I've seen the 3rd gen mounting points, and it would require cutting off the ends of the bar and fabbing up some new ones. Although I think it would be alot cheaper and easier to pick up an Ebay bar, since they all do the same thing. Where did you see this?
yea r there any strut bars for 2nd gens???
yeah, the stock ones, for the front. You'll find them on Z24's, GT's(both, FE3 suspension), and some lower models. My 91 'bird LE(FE1 suspension, v6) and my 92 SE(FE2, v6) both had it. for threar, you can either make your own shock towner bar, or buy one from MRZ. it's a good product, even if it is exspensive....dunno if it'
ll fit your vert or not though.

I'm not to keen on some of the ebay bars I've seen, quite a few look pretty weak. And some of the feedbacks I've read about some of them not fitting, not worth it. It was mentioned in an ad in the NE regions forum. I figured if it was'nt that big a deal, I'd modify the '94 bar I have laying around. I've got a welder and material, so that is'nt an issue either.
ya, i wish me LE came wit one, so i should look at the junkyards for those models
if youve got the material and a little bit of talent it shouldnt be that hard to build one at all. all up to you though. just need some tubing and some flat plates and maybe someone with a plasma cutter or sumin to cut the plate nice.
yeah just check junkyards, you should be able to find one. 89-91 Z's and GT's will have the bar you need, and possibly lower models. i just check them all

^all Z24s and sunbird GTs, but the mounting points changed in 92 i beleive(might be wrong)
dont mind my dirty ass engine bay, was right after a clutch/tranny swap lol
FDP 62MM TB, FFP Performance Chip, FFP Underdrive Pully, WAI, Hi Flow Cat, 2.5" Catback, Functional Ram Air Hood, Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
Pre 92 on top, 92+ on bottom-
Available on anything that had FE3, and some sedans without FE3.
hmmm interesting....
my 91 sunbird is an LE but it is a convertible & mine has the same brace.... so does that mean that they also put them on the convertibles for better chassis rigidity or did someone put that on after the fact?
cause my engine bay looks like yours, well except for color & no wai (yet) thats my next chore after i finish the stereo is to make a wai for my car.... may make a cai, but not sure yet cause i sometimes have to drive dirt roads & when it rains it's fricken MUDDY!!!!
most of my driving is highway tho.... so i am undecided which way i am going with the intake.

Your LE got the FE3 suspension package. I'm pretty sure all verts with LE and RS levels got the FE3. Is there a subframe brace between the sway bar mounting points?
hmmmmm I dunno... I will have to look
try to do that at lunch today....
will let you know.....
so if the subframe brace is there between the sway bar mounting points then my car has the FE3 suspension package... which explains why it handles better than the hardtop cavy's i have driven in the past & better than say the same year model olds cutlass cierra huh
thats fricken kewl....I can handle having the better suspension....
thanks
